Staycation

I was listening to the radio this morning and the news anchor talked about the fact that a lot of people will not be taking a vacation this year because of gas prices and food prices. She said that many families are going to take a Stay Cation this year. Which basically means that they will be staying home. She said that people are going to spend their money on purchasing a new grill or patio furniture so they can vacation at home.

As I thought about this, I decided to bring up the idea with Deanna. Lets have a Staycation this year. We could stay at home and every day we could go do something fun and exciting that is right here in Southern Idaho. Some places and things we could do on our staycation are Bowling, Swimming, Rollerskating, Balanced Rock, Bruneau Sand Dunes, Golf and Tennis. Anyway, Deanna thought it might be a good idea so we will have to schedule the week and then plan an activity for each day. Another fantastic benefit is that we will be home every night sleeping in our own beds.

I'll let you know how it goes, if we actually do it.

I've done this for years. Instead of going to ID how spring break we have had staycations. Each child got to plan one day, the meals, the activities, everything. No on ecould complain because each got his own way at least once. Good luck. You are always welcome here! If it doesn't work out.

How was your weekend? Did it rain on you the whole time like it did on us?

And you are planning a staycation this summer? We'd love to have you here too for one of your day trips.

We do this a lot, just nice to sleep in your own bed without all the extra costs. But I love the name and have shared the idea with loads of people after reading this.

Sounds like a good idea. The part I like most is the "sleep in your own bed". I really miss our bed at home. You might do something that Dad and I did. We couldn't afford to GO somewhere so we stayed in TF. We rented a motel for a night and just had a night of peace and quiet. You could do that and just go to our house...rent a movie, order in food and then get in the hot tub. The nice thing is that you are close if there was a problem but far enough away that you could have a vacation from noise. MOM
